SEARCH AND RESCUE (SAR) INSURANCE PLANS
SAR insurance plans offer financial reimbursement for qualified expenses related to search and rescue. SAR insurance coverage requires the use of a supported device with an active subscription to report an emergency that warrants search and rescue to the Garmin Response℠ center (such as triggering an SOS on your inReach® device)1. Reimbursement of covered rescue expenses is based on the selected SAR insurance plan.
SAR INSURANCE OPTIONS
All three SAR insurance plan offerings are listed below and include up to $100,000 USD in reimbursement for covered rescue costs and a $5,000 USD accidental death and dismemberment benefit. The SAR High Risk plan includes additional activities done below 5,000 meters2, while the SAR High Altitude plan includes activities done above 5,000 meters3.

At the time of purchase, you’ll simply need to enter the names of the additional individuals you want to insure — and provide a named beneficiary (who will receive certain insurance policy benefits if the insured cannot) for each person you add5.

1SAR insurance is an optional benefit in addition to the emergency coordination response from the Garmin Response center. SAR insurance is not required for Garmin Response to coordinate a rescue mission.
2High-risk activities covered by the SAR High Risk plan include BASE jumping, cliff diving, solo free diving, fly-by-wire, free climbing (without ropes), hang gliding, para gliding, heli-skiing and heli-snowboarding, wingsuit flying, mountain climbing (traveling below and has not descended to below 5,000 meters from sea level) and skydiving (including skysurfing)
3High-altitude activities covered by the SAR High Altitude plan include all SAR High Risk activities for those who are travelling above or actively ascending to or recently descended from an altitude above 5,000 meters sea level
